The latest version of Google Play Store is 53.2.23, released September 23, 2026 (61 MB). Google rolls each version out gradually: first to a share of phones, then to everyone else over a few days. So it's normal if yours still shows an earlier version.
How to update Play Store now
- Open Play Store and tap your profile picture in the top right.
- Go to SettingsAbout.
- Tap Play Store version. If there's a newer one, you'll see "A new version of Google Play Store will be downloaded and installed" and it installs in a minute or two. If it says "Google Play Store is up to date", you already have the latest version Google has assigned to you.

Google almost never publishes detailed release notes for Play Store. New versions typically bring security patches, support for the latest Android features and design changes that Google switches on gradually from its servers.
