How to use Play Store on a PC (Windows 10 and 11)
The real ways to use Google Play apps and games on a computer in 2026: official Google Play Games, remote install from the web, emulators and Chromebooks.
Play Store is an Android app, so there is no Play Store installer for Windows: an APK file won't open on a PC. What does exist is several ways to use Google Play apps and games on a computer. Here they are, from most to least recommended, with real requirements as of September 2026.

1. Google Play Games for PC (official)
Google's program for playing Android games on Windows. It's not the full store but a catalog of games adapted to keyboard and mouse, with progress synced to your phone through the same Google account.
- Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11.
- An SSD with about 10 GB free.
- A 4-core CPU, 8 GB of RAM and Intel UHD 630-class graphics or better.
- Hardware virtualization enabled and a Windows administrator account.
- Download the installer from play.google.com/googleplaygames.
- Run it and sign in with your Google account.
- If it warns about virtualization, open Control PanelProgramsTurn Windows features on or off, tick Virtual Machine Platform and restart. If it still fails, enable Intel VT-x or SVM Mode (AMD) in the BIOS.
2. Install apps on your phone from the PC browser
- Go to play.google.com with the same Google account as your phone.
- Find the app and click Install.
- Choose the device. The download starts on the phone as soon as it's online.

- Only download from the official site.
- Banking apps and games with anti-cheat often refuse to run in emulators. That's normal.
4. Chromebook
Open SettingsAppsGoogle Play Store, tap Turn on and accept the terms. If the option isn't there, your Chromebook isn't compatible or is managed by a school or employer.
What about Windows Subsystem for Android?
Many older guides recommend WSA. Microsoft shut it down on March 5, 2025: it can't be downloaded and gets no updates. Guides that still suggest it are out of date.
