Older Play Store versions and how to roll back
Google Play Store version history, how to go back to the factory version without losing apps, and options for Android 5 or 6 phones.
Looking for an older Play Store makes sense in two cases: the latest version is misbehaving and you want to roll back, or your phone is old and the current version won't install. Keep in mind that Play Store updates itself: install an old version and it will move back to the newest one as soon as it's online.

The safe way back: uninstall updates
- Open SettingsAppsSee all appsGoogle Play Store.
- Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
- Choose Uninstall updates and confirm.
Your apps, purchases and account aren't affected. Often this clean reinstall is exactly what fixes the problem.
Why you can't install an old version on top
Android refuses to install an older version over a newer one and shows "App not installed". It's a security feature that stops malicious apps from replacing a newer version with an old one that has known vulnerabilities.
