Play Store stuck on "Download pending": how to fix it
If Play Store says "Download pending" and never moves, check the queue, the Wi-Fi only setting, storage and cache. Fixes in order.
"Download pending" isn't an error but a state: the store accepted your request but hasn't started downloading. If it lasts more than a minute or two, something is blocking it. It's almost always one of three things: other downloads ahead in the queue, the store waiting for Wi-Fi, or low storage.
1. Check the download queue
Open Play Store, tap your picture, go to Manage apps & device. If updates are running, tap Cancel all.
2. Check network preferences
In Play Store: SettingsNetwork preferencesApp download preference, choose Over any network. Also check Android's Data Saver in SettingsNetwork & internetData Saver.
3. Free up space
Leave at least 1 GB free.
4. Force stop and clear cache
SettingsAppsGoogle Play Store, Force stop, then Clear cache.
5. Turn off VPN, battery saver and blockers
Aggressive battery saving often limits background downloads.
6. Check date, time and account
Turn on automatic date and time; if it persists, remove and re-add your Google account.
7. Reinstall the store
Uninstall Play Store updates or install 53.2.23. If a numeric code appears, see the errors guide; error 495, for instance, means the download started and was cut off.
