Play Store keeps stopping or closes by itself: how to fix it
If Play Store closes on launch or shows "Google Play Store keeps stopping", follow these steps: cache, Google Play services, WebView and a reinstall.
If Play Store closes as soon as it opens, shows a blank screen or you see "Google Play Store keeps stopping", the app is crashing on your phone. It's almost always an update that left incompatible data, Google Play services, or a component called WebView.
Step 1: restart the phone
Step 2: clear the store's cache and data
SettingsAppsGoogle Play StoreForce stop, then Clear cache; if it still crashes, Clear storage.
Step 3: check Google Play services
Make sure it's enabled, clear its cache and restart.
Step 4: restore WebView
Android System WebView displays web content inside apps. A faulty version makes several Google apps crash at once. In SettingsApps with Show system, find Android System WebView, choose Uninstall updates and restart. Once the store works, update WebView and Chrome again.
Step 5: back to the factory version
Uninstall Play Store updates or install 53.2.23 from the APK.
Step 6: space and "cleaner" apps
With under 500 MB free, many apps crash silently. "Cleaner" or "booster" apps should go too: they kill Google processes the store needs. On Amazon Fire and uncertified devices, read the tablet guide first.
