Error 495 when downloading apps from Play Store
Error 495 cuts an app download short. Fix it by clearing Download Manager, checking your network and VPN, and resetting the store.
"Can't download app due to an error (495)" appears when an app download or update is interrupted and can't resume.
Common causes
- Networks that cut long connections: public, hotel, school or office Wi-Fi.
- VPNs, ad blockers or Private DNS.
- Download Manager, the system app that actually downloads files, corrupted or disabled.
Quick fix: switch networks
If you're on Wi-Fi, turn it off and download over mobile data (or the other way around). If it completes, the network was the problem.
Full fix
- Turn off VPN and Private DNS (set SettingsNetwork & internetPrivate DNS to Automatic).
- Clear Download Manager. In SettingsApps, enable Show system, find Download Manager, make sure it's enabled, then clear its cache and storage.
- Clear Play Store: cache, then storage.
- Restart and try again.
Clearing Download Manager cancels downloads in progress in your browser. Finished files stay in Downloads.
If it keeps failing, follow the general errors guide.
